Save Money on Mailing Postage Rates with USPS’s Current ID Promotion

USPS’s latest promotion will help you save on postage until November 30th! 

Business mailers can run an “interactive campaign” that allows users to digitally preview their household mail and manage packages arriving soon via email. 

Incorporate colorful and interactive campaign elements to enhance and extend the mail moment for consumers, thus reaching their target audiences on a digital channel.  

Business mailers wishing to participate in the promotion can claim a 2% discount on postage that contains an Informed Delivery interactive campaign.

What is Informed Delivery? 

Informed Delivery is a USPS consumer-facing product that allows users to digitally examine their household mail and control items due to arrive soon. 

Business mailers can run a “interactive campaign,” which combines colorful and interactive marketing features to enhance and extend the postal experience for customers, allowing them to contact their target audiences through a digital channel.

Here’s What You Should Know

Right now, USPS has a promotion that offers a 2% discount on postage that has informed delivery services included in their mailing campaign.  

The promotion period runs from September 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021. 

Please note, there are a few exceptions to the promotions. Check below to see if your mail piece is eligible! 

  • Discount Amount: 2% of eligible postage.  
  • The discount is calculated in PostalOne!®and applied to the Postage Statement at the time of mailing.  
  • The 2% discount is deducted from the postage amounts of qualifying product categories that are paid at the time of mailing. 

    Eligible Mail includes:  
    • First-Class Mail®automation letters
    • Postcards and flats 
    • USPS Marketing Mail™automation letters and flats 
    • Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail™automation letters and flats 


  • Non-Eligible Mail includes:
    • Non-automation mail (letters, postcards, and flats) 
    • Saturation mail flats 
    • Destination Delivery Unit (DDU) flats 
    • CR-RT 5-Digit Pallets flats 
    • Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) letters, postcards and flats 
    • Detached Address Label/Detached Marketing Label flats 
    • Business-to-Business or Business-to-Institution/Campus mailings 
    • Package campaigns are ineligible 

Here’s What You Need To Get Started

Solo Printing

If your business would like to use your mailing permit, then you will need to register on your gateway.  Please reference the Mailer Campaign Portal User Guide to get started.  

If you want to get started with Solo Printing, we’re already registered! Just fill out the contact form below or contact your account executive and we can help get you started.  

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:  

A Representative image (required for flats, optional for letter size pieces) and a Ride-Along image as per USPS specifications. 
Please Note: A strong CTA is required for your Informed Delivery interactive mail piece. See below for examples.

You will need to provide a URL that will be used for your digital ride-along piece to link out to business landing page. (It must be an HTTPS link.) 

A JPEG or PDF of the mail piece needs to be submitted to USPS for approval of the 2% discount. (Note: approval takes about 4 days) According to USPS, campaign image requirements for image sizing and specifications can be found here

Please note that at this time, Informed Delivery messages are not sent to business addresses or addresses without a USPS delivery point.
