Booklets

WHAT ARE BOOKLETS?

Many companies look upon a booklet as their opportunity to tell the “full story.” Perhaps that means introducing the company and its officers to their customers. Maybe it involves relatively detailed descriptions of each of the products and services that the company provides.

On the other hand, sometimes a booklet is used to take an in-depth look at a single topic, like a complex product or service. This can be an incredibly informative tool that helps your customers to decide if this is the right choice for them.

With quality services from Solo Printing, your booklet stands a much better chance of helping you to make a sale. That’s because our booklets are always carefully crafted and bound. The content is easy to read and memorable, and when you add images and graphics, you can be certain that your booklet is going to be read and remembered.

At Solo Printing, we don't like to put restrictions on our customers' creativity. That's why we make it possible to bind booklets in so many ways.

Saddle stitching is the most popular choice for booklets, especially ones that don’t involve too many pages. To create a saddle stitch booklet, each sheet of paper is printed on both sides, organized according to page number and then folded in half. Staples are added along the fold to bind the booklet, making a sturdy yet accessible finished product.

Larger booklets may require perfect or book binding. As the name suggests, this gives the finished booklet more of the look and feel of a bound book. The square spine prevents the booklet from lying flat when opened, and strong, flexible glue holds the booklet securely together. This is a high-end, polished choice.

Booklets also may be finished with a plastic spiral binding. Surprisingly durable, this binding is ideal for booklets that will be referred to often. Customers may appreciate being able to bend the booklet back on itself as well.

When wire binding is preferred, then the wire-o binding is ideal. Like perfect binding, this is a more deluxe choice that gives the finished booklet a really polished, professional look. Nonetheless, the pages of this booklet can be folded back on themselves.

Booklets are available in a wide array of sizes.

Rectangles and squares are the most common shapes, but the sizes can vary considerably. If you need something that is pocket-sized, we can make that happen. However, our most popular booklet size is eight-and-a-half by 11 inches. Anything in between and even larger also is possible.

When designing your booklet, you have your choice of paperstock. Lighter weight paper can be perfect when price is a primary concern and when you don’t necessarily expect the finished product to stand up to a lot of repeated use.

However, it frequently makes sense to step up to a thicker paperstock that is heavier and more durable. This paper not only feels better in your customers’ hands but also is likely to last longer.

You’ll similarly want to give careful consideration to the finish of the booklet. Uncoated, matte and gloss finishes all are available, with uncoated being the most economical choice. Typically, matte is an excellent option as it minimizes glare, ensuring that it is very easy to read. Gloss also can be the right choice when you really want your content to pop off of the page.
