Digital Printing
WHAT IS DIGITAL PRINTING?
Digital Printing is the fastest growing sector in the print industry due to its recent technological advances. With virtually no setup costs or steps required to produce press plates, our digital print department is perfect for high-quality runs that require quick turnaround times. Another benefit of digital printing is the ability to run jobs with variable data. Variable data allows for complex personalization on pieces which in turn bring much higher response rates.
Digital printing is also a great complement to Solo Printing’s B2B digital storefront platform. By utilizing the storefront and our digital capabilities, our partners can place orders and customize previously designed templates. Templates can range anywhere from brochures, flyers, booklets to much more. All files are stored and handled securely by Solo Printing employees and produced by us. This ensures brand security, consistency and allows for fast turnaround times.
HOW IT WORKS
The industry leading Dry Ink technology found in our brand new Xerox® 1000i digital press uses no fuser oil, giving all your applications a smooth, offset-like finish.
Advanced Xerox® color management technology, with closed-loop process controls, enables vivid, consistent color rendition from page to page and job to job every single time.
Because our digital press always prints at high-resolution standards, it delivers amazing mid-tones, crisp text, pure neutrals, detailed shadows, bright highlights and excellent photo rendering, resulting in an outstanding image quality.
Characteristics of our Xerox Color 1000i Press:
- Maximum sheet size of 13” X 19” and thickness of 16pt
- Variable data and imaging
- Inline folding, trimming and traditional or square back saddle stitching
- Inline hole punch (2 or 3 holes)
- Prints on a wide variety of paper stocks such as Polyesters, Classic Linen, Adhesive, Magnet and much more.
- Ideal for: short run booklets, brochures, direct mailers, postcards and pamphlets
Digital Printing versus Traditional Offset Printing
The greatest difference is that there is no need to replace printing plates. Digital Printing is the ideal solution for small to medium sized print runs that require quick turnaround times. Solo’s digital quality rivals that of offset with virtually no setup costs. Digital Printing is also a perfect solution for jobs requiring variable data to add personalized messaging and unique versions. If each piece requires a unique image, code, name or address, digital printing is the route to go. If you are not sure what best fits your needs, please feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to help you with your next project.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS?
Introducing the Xerox® Iridesse® Production Press
Elevate your printing capabilities to new heights with Solo Printing’s latest investment: the Xerox® Iridesse® Production Press. Designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s businesses, the Xerox® Iridesse® combines cutting-edge technology with unparalleled automation.
The Xerox Iridesse Production Press combines the value of highly-automated, agile digital production with exceptional image quality, making it easier to unleash the potential of print and achieve remarkably brilliant results.
Outstanding quality begins with vibrant four-color printing. The Iridesse™ stands out for its remarkable CMYK excellence, making it an ideal choice for various digital projects. Thanks to advanced technologies that significantly enhance image quality, such as the leading-edge Ultra HD Resolution, a new low-gloss small particle toner, and xerographic improvements, you can tackle more short-run, quick-turnaround tasks without compromising.
Ultra HD Resolution takes center stage, delivering four times more data to the press compared to other digital systems. This unique image pipeline, combined with 1200 x 1200 x 10-bit RIP rendering and 2400 x 2400 x 1-bit print imaging, produces unparalleled detail, resulting in smooth gradients, flawless fine lines, and precise small text.
The introduction of High Definition Emulsion Aggregate (HD EA) Toner further enhances the CMYK brilliance. With a reduced particle size of 4.7 microns, compared to the previous 5.8 microns, prints exhibit a smoother finish, lower gloss, and exceptional shadow detail, even in complex images.
Consistency is key, ensured through internal process controls. Mark On Belt (MOB) patches are laid down between pages and automatically measured throughout each run, addressing any registration or density issues in real-time and preventing color drift, allowing you to confidently deliver consistent results job after job.
Performance Highlights:
- Speed: Achieve speeds of up to 120 ppm, ensuring fast turnaround times without compromising quality.
- Monthly Capacity: With a capacity of up to 500K+ pages per month, the Xerox® Iridesse® is built to handle even the most demanding printing needs.
Below are some of the main differences compared to our older digital press (still operational):
- Extra Long Sheets – Up to 47” up to 400 GSM.
- Paper weight ranges from 52 to 400 GSM, size, etc.
- Higher printing quality

Kyocera TASKalfa PRO 15000c: A Kyocera Press
In 2022, Solo Printing invested in a Kyocera Press, also known as the Kyocera TASKalfa PRO 15000c. The Kyocera press is a four-color VDP system, cut-sheet printer that provides efficiency, adaptability, and consistency within Solo’s production print and mail environment.
It works advantageously for full color printing of transactional, trans-promotional and other customer communications while remaining cost-effective for our customers.
This Kyocera press relies on water-based pigment inks and can process more full-color applications on a single platform. This is a benefit to our clients because inkjet printers produce higher resolutions which makes them capable of printing exceptional, smooth detail in comparison to laser printers using toner.
Another benefit of the Kyocera press is its cut-sheet workflow which is designed for non-stop operation. This allows both our digital print and mailing department to improve speed and productivity.
This is a great press for the printing of invoices, sensitive financial data, transactional push messages, and even vote-by-mail ballot printing! This is because the press is ideal for operations that use monochrome or color toner printing technology.
This press can best benefit clients with monthly print volumes in the 250,000 to 1+ million impression range. They can expect quality, consistent print products at the most cost-effective price.
More Key Highlights:
- Meet SLAs with fast output
- Low acquisition and operating costs
- Low cost per impression
- Move from toner to inkjet technology
- Precision output with high quality resolution
- Proven, reliable Kyocera inkjet technology
