History of Solo Printing 

Manny and Jorge Hernandez, who began their careers working for other printing companies, had a vision of what they considered to be the ideal printing company, and so in 1985, Solo Printing was born. At this time, we began producing letterhead, stationery and flyers in a 1,400-square-foot building for local miami businesses.  

Business at Solo was beginning to boom so in 1995 we moved to our current location. Then, in 2008, with success still on the rise, we expanded to a brand new 100,000 square foot facility. And, now, we officially have 180,000 square feet, that’s all SOLO! 

“Why work for somebody else?” says Co-Founder, Manny Hernandez. “We said to ourselves, let’s just go ahead and do it. We saw what was being done wrong at other print shops, and we didn’t want to make those same mistakes with our company. We were both very young, so we put our energy and our own way of thinking into the business.”  

Their own way of thinking created what is now a very successful commercial printing company which will celebrate its 38th anniversary this year.

Today, we are proud to produce brochures, catalogs, mailers and publications—along with a full range of general commercial printing products—in a 180,000-square-foot facility. We now have over 150 highly trained, dedicated employees. And we are fortunate to service some of the most well recognized brands in retail, travel, healthcare and other prominent industries. 

We continue to make investments to better our company and our offerings to our clients. Because at the end of the day, our customers deserve a provider that strives to be the best it can be.  

Our largest investment to date was made in 2008 when we expanded to 100,000 square feet and purchased our very first Komori web offset press. In the following years, we continued our expansion within both our facility and our services by investing in space, equipment, and skilled staff. Check out some of our top investments: 

  • 2015 – Purchased and Installed Our Second Komori Web Press 
  • 2016 – Purchased and Installed Our New folders and the Bograma Die-Cutter 
  • 2019 – Purchased and Installed Our Two state-of-the-art Komori Sheetfed Presses 

In 2022, we invested in several new machines including the BlueCrest Envelope Inserter and the MBO CoBo stack. This year, we will be investing in our bindery department. We’ve already purchased new machines and can’t wait to share just how much this will benefit our clients once installed.  

These continued investments help us streamline our work and reduce any bottlenecks within our day-to-day operations. They also allow us to increase our workload capabilities and our turnaround times.

Giving Back 

As print providers, we want to ensure we are doing what we can to give back to our environment. That’s why in 2022 we partnered with One Tree Planted. We love our planet. So, our partnership now allows us to print a tree for every job sold! We are a socially responsible, sustainable printer that maintains year-over-year certifications from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFc), and Sustainable Florestry Initiative (SFI). 

With your help, we can do just that. Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honored to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model. 

In 2022, we had our first beach clean-up with our team at the Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne. We partnered with the Biscayne Bay Foundation to help pick up garbage and debris throughout the park and the beach.
